You can click the icon to run and you'll get a standard "Private number" spoof call with call tone and rumble. Clicking the answer button greys it out, changes it to a speaker button, and starts the 'call' timer. Although the heart of MeeGo SDK is Qt Creator, you can also use basic functionalities directly from the command line. MeeGo SDK is extensible and we are working on different plug-ins that introduce new tools and targets.

This release is labelled as 1.1 Beta. The final version will be aligned with the MeeGo Compliance specification (draft currently under review) and will include MS Windows support (still unstable). Feedback and contributions are welcome through the meego-sdk mailing list.

1200 packages now listed in our Maemo Software Catalog
Maybe not a milestone, but something surely worth mentioning: our Maemo Software Catalog now includes 1200 applications in 33 categories, which makes it probably the largest and easiest to browse Nokia N900 software directory.

I'd also like to encourage everyone to rate and comment on existing applications - with up to 10.000 page views of the Software catalog a day your opinions and ratings will surely help other N900 users to choose the best software for their needs and solve problems with the ones they already use.

Sudser - more secure root access
Sudser from Andrew Zabolotny allows the user to execute commands with root priviledges. It contains additional config files to 'sudo', which makes it work similar to Ubuntu. Unlike most similar packages (becomeroot, easyroot, rootsh), it can provide additional security by protecting root access with a password. To invoke a command with administrative priviledges, open a terminal and type 'sudo [command]' or just 'rush' to get a root shell. If you would like to setup a more secure configuration, type sudser command. It will ask you for a password, and then it will allow access only to root shell, and only after you enter the user password.
