Marble is a Virtual Globe and World Atlas that you can use to learn more about Earth: You can pan and zoom around and you can look up places and roads. A mouse click on a place label will provide the respective Wikipedia article.
Of course it's also possible to measure distances between locations or watch the current cloud cover. Marble offers different thematic maps: A classroom-style topographic map, a satellite view, street map, earth at night and temperature and precipitation maps. All maps include a custom map key, so it can also be used as an educational tool for use in class-rooms. For educational purposes you can also change date and time and watch how the starry sky and the twilight zone on the map change.
In opposite to other virtual globes Marble also features multiple projections: Choose between a Flat Map, Mercator or the Globe.
Some of the features of the latest version for Maemo include:
- Improved user interface. The tab widget on the left is gone for good. You'll find new and improved dialogs.
- Offline routing. Marble supports three different offline routing backends. Packages for Monav are shipped alongside the Marble packages. Offline routing maps for all countries worldwide can easily be downloaded from within Marble.
- Configurable route profiles. Select which backends are used for routing and configure them.
- Alternative routes. If different routes are found, you can switch between them with one click.
- Guidance mode. Turn your N900 into a personal navigation device and have Marble guide you to your destination. The map follows your current location, driving instructions are announced at turn points.

In its last version it is great. Offline navigation whith Monav is working fine and the possibility to change route like google maps is what I was looking for. Continue the great work. [Rate: 10/10] |

Has potential, but it is slow and buggy in the current iteration. [Rate: 5/10] |

Good application. Yes, it is a bit slow and crashes sometimes (it's a release candidate). I guess speed and stability will increase in the next versions. [Rate: 9/10] |

Not all the options of the PC version work in the n900.
The app is unstable, it closes itself very often after some minutes working.
But is a great job, and I 'll use it.
Thanks for your work. [Rate: 7/10] |

Unless it uses 3d acceleration and openGL its useless, I mean it could have been great, but its so laggy that it doesnt give me any good experiences. I hope Mr Holst will add Hardware Acceleration to it. [Rate: 4/10] |
