How to rescan / recache media files in the Media Player?



Sometimes it happens that you download or copy new songs or videos to your device but the Media Player does not add them to the list.

Using this simple method you can reset all tracker caches and make it rescan the file system, which should result in all media files being included:

  • close the Media Player if it is running
  • open the X-Terminal
  • type tracker-processes -r
  • reboot the device, launch Media Player and wait for the tracker to rescan your media files (this can take several minutes).
