How to enable tethering over Bluetooth?

Even though Bluetooth Dial-Up Networking (DUN) service is supported by Maemo by default, it is not enabled out of the box, which means that your N900 will work as a modem for your computer via USB, but not over Bluetooth.

In order to enable Bluetooth DUN / tethering and share your N900's internet connection via Bluetooth (i.e. make it work as a Bluetooth modem) you need to install a 3rd party software called

Bluetooth Dial Up Networking

available from the Extras-Devel software repository.

Additionally, you can install a package called Tethering Monitor to have a nice icon shown in the status bar when tethering is active.
