Useful keyboard and touchscreen shortcuts - Web browser

The built-in Web browser supports several keyboard and touchscreen shortcuts making it possible to access certain functions in a quick and easy way. These include:

  • Ctrl+R reloads the current page
  • Ctrl+N opens new browser window
  • Ctrl+B opens the Bookmarks list
  • Ctrl+D opens a menu which lets you add the current page to bookmarks, add a shortcut do Desktop and subscribe to available RSS feeds
  • Ctrl+S saves the current page (as either complete page or HTML only)
  • Ctrl+O opens a locally saved HTML file
  • Ctrl+A selects all contents of the currently open web page (e.g. for copy/paste)
  • Ctrl+C copies selected content to clipboard
  • Ctrl+X cuts selected content (e.g. in a text form) to clipboard
  • Ctrl+V pastes clipboard content (e.g. to a text form)
  • Ctrl+F opens the Find bar to find a text on the current web page
  • Space scrolls down by one page
  • Shift+Space scrolls up by one page
  • Ctrl+right arrow - works as Tab, moves to the next field in forms
  • Ctrl+left arrow - works like Shift+Tab on PC, moves to the previous field in forms
  • Chr (blue arrow) + Backspace - one page back in browsing history.

Zooming in/out can be done in several ways:
  • the "Swirl" gesture: make a circular move with your finger until you get the desired zoom level. "Swirl" right to zoom in and left to zoom out
  • double tap over the page area you want to resize to zoom it in, double tap again to zoom out
  • the Volume +/- button also works as a Zoom In/Out button.

Cursor mode: the built-in web browser also support a special "cursor mode", in which a mouse cursor is visible and can be controlled with finger or stylus. This is useful to e.g. select some specific part of text or to control online games in Flash which were made with desktop computers in mind and were optimized for mouse cursor control.

To enter the Cursor mode, swipe finger or stylus over the left edge of the display from left to right, which will show a semi-transparent "mouse cursor button". Tap it to enable the mouse cursor; tap it again to hide it.
