Useful keyboard and touchscreen shortcuts - system wide
The N900 supports many keyboard and touchscreen shortcuts which make it easier and quicker to launch certain functions or applications. The following list contains some of the shortcuts available system-wide, i.e. in any screen or application:
- Ctrl+Shift+P makes a screenshot of the current screen and saves it in Images in JPEG format
- Ctrl+Shift+X launches the X-Terminal
- Ctrl+Backspace launches the Task Manager (aka Task Switcher)
- Tapping and holding the Task Manager icon/button (in the upper left corner of the screen) switches from any view directly to the Desktop
- In a sub-view of an application (e.g. Email -> Account -> Inbox) tapping and holding the Back arrow button (in the upper right corner of the screen) switches to the main view of that application
- as on PC, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X and Ctrl+V copy/cut/paste (text, images, files, etc.) and Ctrl+A selects all content.
- Fn (Blue arrow) key twice - locks the keyboard in numeric mode, useful when you have a lot of digits to enter. Press again to go back to normal mode.
- Shift twice - locks the keyboard in uppercase mode. Press again to go back to lowercase.
- Ctrl+Fn - shows a table with symbols and national characters.
- Ctrl+Space - switches between dictionaries if two languages are enabled.
In some applications, depending on their functions, the following shortcuts can also be used:
- Ctrl+O opens a file
- Ctrl+N creates a new item (e.g. a new document)
- Ctrl+S saves the current file/document
- Ctrl+Z undoes the last modification (Undo)
- Ctrl+Y Redo
